Galina Sergeyevna Ulánova (RussianГалина Сергеевна Уланова, born in Saint Petersburg, Russia; 8 January 1910 [O.S. 26 December 1909] – 21 March 1998) — Soviet Russian ballet dancer. She is frequently cited as being one of the greatest 20th Century ballerinas.

Galina Sergeevna Ulanova was an iconic figure in Soviet ballet. Russian composer Sergey Prokofiev called her “the genius of Russian ballet, its elusive soul and its inspired poetry” while another legendary dancer of the 20th century, Rudoif Nureev, was convinced she was “the world's Number One ballerina.”

Jansen Manizer modelled her in clay live just larger than life size in the 1940's when this cast was made.  There are later versions in bronze in the Tretyakov Gallery and the National Museum in Stockholm.
