Tatyana  Yablonskaya was the Ukraine's most important painter during the Socialist Realism period.  She participated in all the, "All Union Art Exhibitions" in Moscow during the 1940's and 1950's and was awarded Stalin prizes in 1950 and 1951.  She taught at the Kiev Art Institute 1944 - 1952 and 1966 - 1973 becoming influential on a generation of Ukrainian painters.  Famous works include 'Corn(1950; Tretyakov Gallery)' and 'Morning(1954; Tretyakov Gallery).'

A day in May is a fine example of the artist's work of the 1960's.
